Every City in the USA is a sourced register of U.S. cities drawn from the U.S. Census Bureau’s annual Population Estimates Program (PEP). It compiles official Census figures into a normalized, filterable dataset covering population, growth, density, and geography for incorporated places across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The compiled data files — including cities.csv, filtered data exports, and transformed data tables — are released under CC0 (public domain dedication). You can copy them, transform them, redistribute them, and build on them without asking permission and without paying a fee.

Every original map published by Every City in the USA is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 unless its page or file says otherwise. This includes map-builder output, ready-made state and national maps, Growth Atlas maps, the homepage coverage map, and city locator maps. Original graphics explicitly marked CC BY 4.0 use the same terms. You may copy, adapt, publish, and use this work commercially.

When sharing a CC BY map or graphic, give appropriate credit to Every City in the USA, include the source-page URL when reasonably practical, include the CC BY 4.0 license URL, and say if you modified it. For online use, a linked source credit is our suggested default because it helps readers verify the work. You may qualify the source link with nofollow or another rel value to match your publishing policy. A link that passes ranking credit is not required. A plain-text URL is fine where hyperlinks are not practical.

Downloadable files may not contain a visible logo, watermark, or credit line. Some SVG files contain invisible license metadata so the terms can travel with the file. Federal source records and imagery remain public-domain government works; the CC BY license applies only to the original selection, design, compilation, analysis, and presentation that Every City in the USA contributes.

The underlying Census source data is also public domain under 17 U.S.C. § 105. Attribution is appreciated but not required. If you do cite a source for the data, use https://www.everycityintheusa.com/sources/ for the full methodology and provenance chain.

The site is provided as-is. You may read it, link to it, and quote from it. The site’s HTML, CSS, and OG images are released under CC0 except for the maps and marked graphics covered above. The wordmark and logo are retained as brand marks. Do not use them in ways that imply endorsement of your work by this site or its operator.

• Don’t scrape excessively. The public CSV download exists precisely so you don’t need to scrape HTML pages at scale.
• Don’t republish this site as your own. Using the data in your own project is fine; mirroring the site and claiming it as yours is not.
• Don’t use the wordmark or logo to imply that this site, the Census Bureau, or its operator endorses your work.

Outside those three constraints, the data and site are yours to use however you need.
