Methodology · North Carolina ACS B19013
North Carolina median household income estimates, with MOE shown.
The ranking value is ACS table B19013 line 001 estimate, Median household income in the past 12 months, from the 2020-2024 5-Year ACS release. The MOE column is the published ACS 90% margin of error for that estimate.
Census reports some medians only as bounds. $250,000+ means at least $250,000, not an exact income or a tie. These places remain in an unranked open-ended top group, sorted alphabetically. Any bottom-coded medians remain in an unranked bottom group. No usable conventional MOE is published for these bounds. Numeric ranks count all places ahead, including the top group, so the first point estimate follows that group. Point estimates with identical published values share a rank. Rank differences do not establish statistically significant income differences.
Rows are limited to North Carolina cities with 2025 Census PEP population of at least 5,000 and a published ACS median household income point estimate or bound. CSV exports preserve the point estimate separately from the bound and its direction. An unavailable estimate without a published bound does not qualify.
Do not read this page as a list of wealthiest places. The data reports median household income only; it does not measure assets, net worth, purchasing power, taxes, household size, or local prices.
