Methodology · NOAA normals
Average annual temperature from 30-year climate normals.
The ranking value is NOAA 1991-2020 annual average temperature normal in degrees Fahrenheit. CONUS rows use NOAA's nClimGrid monthly gridded normals; Alaska, Hawaii, and non-CONUS rows use the nearest available station path recorded by the climate pipeline.
Rows are limited to cities with 2024 Census PEP population of at least 5,000 and a non-null annual average temperature normal. Ranks use standard competition ranking, so exact ties share the same rank.
This page does not say a city is warm today, hotter every year, safer, healthier, or better. It ranks a published long-term normal for one metric.
